“Jasmine” Age 25-34 Female gives: Thin Ice #2 Men of Valor Series
5 Stars Out Of 5

Thin Ice was the most exciting and chilling Irene Hannon book I've read yet and is definitely my new favorite. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a nice cozy mystery and others I absolutely love the action-packed danger of a book like this one. Reading Thin Ice was definitely one of the latter times.

The previous book in the series favored the romance a little more but Thin Ice leans more on the suspense angle with the romance providing just the right flavor.

From the icy cover to the last page Thin Ice kept me frozen in place desperate to find out what would happen next. Irene Hannon took on some harder and and darker issues in this book: PTSD, feelings of extreme guilt, mental illness, and some other things that would kinda spoil the story if I mention them.

Irene Hannon's latest is one thrilling read. Dark deeds, a desperate bid for survival, the value of family, romance at a rather inopportune time, and lots and lots of delightfully chilling suspense. If you love suspense or Irene Hannon novels I would definitely recommend Thin Ice.

4.5 Stars Out Of 5

THIN ICE is slower paced than some of Ms. Hannon's others, but still every bit as chilling. I literally shivered in some places. The book has several twists and turns, some surprised me, some didn't. The "bad guy" is revealed early on, but who he actually was in relationship to Christy wasn't. A great book that kept me reading from beginning to end. Outstanding romantic suspense. I can't wait for book 3 in this series! (The first book is Buried Secrets). Christy refers to having faith, but Lance has turned away from his. There is no showing of his return.

“Always Reading” Age 55-65 Female gives: Thin Ice #2 Men of Valor Series
5 Stars Out Of 5

I really enjoyed Lance and Christy, they were adorable as a couple, yet very capable as individuals. The villain was as creepy and evil as they come and part of the story is told from his point of view.

As with her other books the author does a magnificent job of putting together a story that not only will keep the reader on the edge of their seat, but characters that are credible. However the romance part of the story did seem to go a bit fast for my taste.

You might not want to read it at night. I stayed up to 4 in the morning because I had to finish it and more than once I got the shivers.

You don’t have to read the first book in the series to read this one as it does very well on its own.

Irene Hannon hits another one out of the park! Thin Ice is a riveting book that keeps you on the edge of your seat and makes it hard to put the book down. I felt along with Christy as her world was turned upside down, time after time, with each revelation. Even though I haven't been in a similar situation, I could still feel along with the guilt and fear Lance carried from the events that happened in his past.

I enjoyed the figure skating aspect of Christy's character and how it played into the plot. I used to figure skate, although not competitively, it immediately made me connect with Christy. This book gets your heart racing while empathizing with the characters.

Had to stop reading.

I made it to about page 120 before I decided to quit reading this book. I am so tired of books where the criminal is an insane, tormented person. Whenever the criminal is like this, the author always writes from his point of view part of the time. I do not want to fill my mind with this kind of garbage. The author has to have a pretty sick mind to write this way.

Also, the romance was too much on the physical side. This author had to write about the main lady's great legs and how wonderful they looked in tight leggings. This kind of stuff does not belong in Christian fiction. I am done with this author.

I've read almost all of Irene Hannon's book and she never disappoints. This was definitely a page turner. I enjoyed the suspenseful twists and turns and felt for Christy as she dealt with whatever she found out about her sister. I enjoyed this book and the series so far and can't wait for the 3rd one.

“Madeover” Age: 45-54 Female gives: Thin Ice #2 Men of Valor Series

I've read a few books by Ms. Hannon and really enjoyed them so I was glad to get the opportunity to read this new book.

I had to however check out the synopsis from the publicist to make sure I hadn't already read it. To me the cover was very familiar. I'm not really sure what book I was thinking of but this cover was really very familiar to me.

This is the story of a young woman who's had tragedy after tragedy shatter her life over the last few years.

And then months later Christy receives a note claiming her sister is alive!

I was drawn into the story. I begin to hope along with Christy that Ginny is alive and that there would be a happy ending.

The story line does take you through a cat and mouse game and a sinister plot. It is a fast moving story with many twists and turns.

I love the authors writing style. The way that she introduces the subject of 'Faith' is not overbearing and pushy.

I have really enjoyed this authors story's in the past and would recommend them to almost any age.

The romance story line is well written with no profanity or sexual scenes.

However I feel that this book took a turn away from the clean and wholesomeness normally associated with the genre.

While developing the character of the villain I felt that the bizarreness of his character was actually creepy and not the norm that I find for the genre.

While this book is part of a series and I look forward to the next installment and the story of brother Finn

I question the author’s intentions in long term writing for the genre. For that reason I was 'let down'.

You might be interested to read the authors thoughts about the genre click here to visit her website.

This book I would not recommend for younger readers. I really enjoyed it and adult readers would enjoy it as well.

This book is widely available at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Christian Book (dot)com and other retailers.

One question is would I recommend to a friend. I checked No because I feel that this book is not appropriate for younger audiences.

“Janet” gives: Thin Ice #2 Men of Valor Series
5 Stars Out Of 5

Fans of Irene Hannon’s novels will love the way she has McGregor work with characters from some of her previous books including the first in this series. Its always fun to encounter familiar characters and get "updates" on their lives.

What really makes this particular book, though, is Hannon’s attention to detail regarding her characters and their occupations. As the mystery unfolds, readers learn about the military, the FBI, figure skating. They also learn about an historical event in Europe that has bearing on the case, homelessness, poverty, mental illness, and abuse.

Hannon has written an engaging and fascinating story. I enjoyed reading it and am looking forward to the next in this series.

“Cara” Age: 35-44 Female gives: Thin Ice #2 Men of Valor Series
5 Stars Out Of 5

Irene Hannon is one of my go-to romantic suspense authors, and this book lives up to my expectations of a page-turning suspense that will keep me guessing for the most part. This one had enough twists to keep me from knowing who the stalker was by the middle of the book. That is a definite win!

“CRTNY” Age: 35-44 Female gives: Thin Ice #2 Men of Valor Series
4 Stars Out Of 5

This book follows the winning formula that this author is known for which is, for the most part, a good move. You know what's coming, but it's always told a little differently. Truthfully, I might be very disappointed if it ever deviated drastically. The only thing that drove me a little nuts is the constant reminder of his delta force service - that does not need to be on every other page - and the two main characters always mulling over the fact that they were quickly falling for each other. That could have been cut in half. Other than that, it's a great read, not too graphic or violent but enough going on to be interesting without nightmares, and enough attraction and tension without anything inappropriate or even close to borderline. I respect that, because the trend even in Christian fiction these days is toward sensationalism, both graphically and sexually.

Bottom line: I know when I read a book by Irene Hannon that it will be clean, fast paced, exciting, romantic and fun. Thank you for that, Ms. Hannon!
