Mercy Canada exists to provide young women with the opportunity to experience God's unconditional love, forgiveness, and life-transforming power. We are committed to being an effective and well-respected global organization dedicated to transforming lives of generations searching for truth and wholeness.

In 1983, Nancy Alcorn founded the first Mercy home in the United States after she worked in a juvenile detention centre and with child protection services. Her experiences revealed a great need for a Christ-centred program that could reach young women at a deeper level. Today Mercy is an international organization, and the first Canadian home opened in August, 2010 to serve young women from across the country.

Mercy Canada operates a Christian residential program for young women ages 19 to 28 who need to break free from a variety of life-controlling issues, including self-harm, eating disorders, addictions, depression, and unplanned pregnancies. The Mercy Canada program is comprehensive and life transforming, and the average stay at our 20 bed home is six to nine months. While at the home, residents receive individual and group counselling, nutritional counselling, biblical teachings, daily worship time, and practical life-skills training from committed and accredited Christian professionals. Countless young women have entered the Mercy program full of shame, self-hate, and darkness, but left knowing their value and feeling joy and hope for the future.

Nicola Bartel Executive Director Mercy Canada
After 25 years in operation, an independent survey of more than 300 U.S. Mercy graduates found that 95% agreed their lives had been transformed and their hope was restored because of their time in the program. The Canadian home operates the same program that has brought healing to so many lives. Our founding principles are: to take in every young woman completely free of charge; to never accept funding that would restrict us from sharing the Gospel; and to give 10% of all our income back to other like-minded organizations. In doing so we have been able to continue to offer an affordable but uncompromised alternative to other private programs. We do not only look at the physical or medical issues our residents face. Instead we address the whole person – spirit, soul, and body.

We are certified by the Canadian Council of Christian Charities and operate as a registered Canadian Charity (CRA #872742309 RR0001).
