On May 14th, 500 business leaders, politicians and fellow Christians came together for the sold out London Christian Prayer Breakfast at the Best Western - Lamplighter.

In his role as Mater of Ceremonies, Mark Cuthbert, Lead Pastor at Summerside Community Church led the group in a prayer for London Ontario, as May 14th has been deemed the Day of Prayer for the city of London.

Faith FM 99.9 ( was instrumental in spreading the Good News on the 14th - featuring interviews and special broadcasts as London friends prayed for our city live on air.

"But we weren't at the Prayer Breakfast, and didn't have Faith FM on so I missed it," you say?
True...kind of. May 14th was the official date on the calendar and now you are invited to join the groundswell of those committed to pray for the city every day.
Christian Life in London now joins Faith FM, the Christian Churches Network of London and the new dedicated website are integral components of the spreading of the awareness of this important initiative.

From the Day of Prayer website...

Our heartfelt petitions bring us closer to God, bring His help, and remind us that we are not alone. Our focus on a specific "day of prayer" is to draw our attention to the power of prayer and remind us, as a community that there are needs around us that can easily be forgotten.

When God was sending his people into Exile, He knew they were going to feel like outsiders in a foreign land. In spite of that feeling, God asked them to: "seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." (Jeremiah 29:7)

We want to invite you to join us in taking time on May 14, to pray for the city of London. Our hope is that, as you take this time to focus on our city, it will encourage you to pray regularly for our city and even make it part of your daily routine.

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Saviour, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 NLT

Since Paul's prayer focused on people, our prayer focus is on three important groups of people in our city. Consider setting your alarm for 3 times during the day when you can take some time to pray for the following individuals in our city:
  1. Those that Lead us
    Our Mayor and City Council
    Our Provincial and Federal Representatives
Our Leaders in our churches, workplaces, and schools

  2. Those that Serve us
    Our Police and Fire Departments
    Our Health Care workers
Our City Workers and those involved in education

  3. Those at Risk and Vulnerable
    Our homeless, orphans, and widows
Our weak and frail due to aging and diseases
Our friends, family, and fellow citizens who struggle with mental illness
The many organizations who are serving these needs

  • That God would give those that lead and serve wisdom in the many decisions they make

  • That they would have the courage to do what is right in spite of differing opinions

  • That justice and freedom would be maintained in our society

  • That individuals would be protected from physical and spiritual attack

  • That those who lead would be good stewards of the resources they oversee

  • That there would be a good connection between the needs in our city and the people who are seeking to meet those needs

  • That churches would be strong so they can help meet the needs in our city

  • That our city would be generous in caring for needy people
