The Christian Churches Network of London (CCNL) has announced that, after much reflection, Barry Slaunewhite has decided to resign from his position as the Executive Director of the CCNL.
Reverend Garry Fess will serve as the interim Executive Director. Reverend Fess expressed appreciation for Barry’s excellent leadership & his diligent work in moving CCNL forward over the last five years. “Barry has done an excellent job & he is much appreciated!
“We pray God’s richest blessings upon his life as he moves into the next season. We are delighted that he will remain on the CCNL Board Directors.”
Barry has led both churches and nonprofits. He served for 26 years as President and CEO of Compassion Canada, one of the largest charities in the country. During that time, Barry worked with churches in 37 countries while God cultivated his passion for the local church’s impact and sustainability. His experience gives him a broad understanding of the inner workings of the church and the parachurch organization.
Barry, along with CCNL Founder, the late Bill Bethel, were instrumental in the creation of Christian Life in London. Prior to 2012, Christian Life in London was an actual printed newspaper, delivered quarterly to select areas of the city. In 2012, Barry and Bill, proposed to the board that, instead of discounting Christian Life in London due to the rising costs, they promoted the idea to the Board to continue Christian Life in London but as a digital publication.
The proposal was unanimously supported and the first edition of Christian Life in London – Online hit the screens in February 2012. With the support and encouragement of Barry and Bill, the journey that began in 2012, has since continued with a new monthly edition of Christian Life in London. Christian Life in London is no longer directly involved with CCNL but continues to fully support and promote the organization and the activities of the Christian community.
Thank you Barry!!
