The 2017 London Christian Prayer Breakfast is just a few days away and a VERY limited number of tickets are still available as this is written. If you have attended past London Christian Prayer Breakfasts, you know how wonderfully uplifting this once a year gathering will be.

The Christian Prayer Breakfast is just the start to a Day of Prayer and we invite you to join us in taking time on May 18, to pray for the city of London. Our hope is that, as you take this time to focus on our city, it will encourage you to pray regularly for our city and even make it part of your daily routine.

The Christian Prayer Breakfast gets started at 7:15 A.M. on Thursday, May 18th at the Lamplighter Inn and Conference Centre on Wellington Road.

Organized by the Christian Churches Network of London (CCNL), the 2017 London Christian Prayer Breakfast is expected to be another sell-out so order your tickets soon. The program will feature wonderful prayer and song and the special keynote speaker, Sarah Bessey.

Sarah is a Canadian author, award-winning blogger, speaker and mother of four.  Sarah also serves on the board of directors for Help One Now, a catalytic organization committed to empowering and resourcing high-capacity local leaders who care for orphans and vulnerable children in order to transform communities and break the cycle of extreme poverty.

She describes herself as an uneasy pacifist, a Kingdom of God focused woman, postmodern, liberal to the conservative and conservative to the liberal in matters of both religion and politics, a social justice wanna-be trying to do some good, and a nondenominational  charismatic recovering know-it-all slowly falling back in love with the Church.

Along with being able to powerfully speak to the theme of the Prayer Breakfast, "Prayer Inspiring Engagement", in a powerful way, she will also speak about the intersections of a spirit-filled life: About her own faith and spirituality, about what love looks like for us, about being a mother, women’s issues, social justice, and her own struggling journey.

In addition to writing books and her blog, Sarah is also an editor for A Deeper Story and a monthly contributor at She Loves Magazine. Her work has also appeared in Conversations Journal, ChurchLeaders.com, Her.meneutics (Christianity today’s Blog for Women), Converge Magazine, Relevant Magazine, Today’s Christian Woman and a handful of other places.

When she is not traveling around North America speaking, you can find her at home in Abbotsford, British Columbia with her husband Brian, and four children.

Tickets are available from the CCNL office, at Creation Bookstore or the Mustard Seed.   The cost is $25/each or $250/table of 10. Click HERE for more details

CCNL is encouraging everyone to use the Breakfast as a springboard to their own activities which focus on prayer for our City throughout the day. Resources will be made available to stimulate prayer on that day Our heartfelt petitions bring us closer to God, bring His help, and remind us that we are not alone. Our focus on a specific “day of prayer”, is to draw our attention to the power of prayer and remind us, as a community that there are needs around us that can easily be forgotten.

When God was sending his people into Exile, He knew they were going to feel like outsiders in a foreign land. In spite of that feeling, God asked them to: “seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” (Jeremiah 29:7)

–––––––––––– SUGGESTED PRAYER GUIDE ––––––––––––

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. Timothy 2:1–4 (NLT)

Since Paul’s prayer focused on people, our prayer focus is on three important groups of people in our city. Consider setting your alarm for 3 times during the day when you can take some time to pray for the following individuals in our city:
  1. Those that Lead us
    • Our Mayor and City Council
    • Our Provincial and Federal Representatives
    • Our Leaders in our churches, workplaces, and schools
  2. Those that Serve us
    • Our Police and Fire Departments
    • Our Health Care workers
    • Our City Workers and those involved in education
  3. Those at Risk and Vulnerable
    • Our homeless, orphans, and widows
    • Our weak and frail due to aging and diseases
    • Our friends, family, and fellow citizens who struggle with mental illness
    • The many organizations who are serving these needs

SUGGESTED PRAYER REQUESTS FOR PEOPLE IN EACH OF THESE CATEGORIES
  • That God would give those that lead and serve wisdom in the many decisions they make
  • That they would have the courage to do what is right in spite of differing opinions
  • That justice and freedom would be maintained in our society
  • That individuals would be protected from physical and spiritual attack
  • That those who lead would be good stewards of the resources they oversee
  • That there would be a good connection between the needs in our city and the people who are seeking to meet those needs
  • That churches would be strong so they can help meet the needs in our city
  • That our city would be generous in caring for needy people
