Experience Another World Without Leaving Yours

While pastoring in a church in British Columbia Rob & Coby Hogendoorn had a vision and desire to pioneer a new church that would be designed and formatted primarily for people with little church background or people who had dropped out of church years ago.

Believing this to be God's leading, Rob and Coby moved with their family to London in September of 1992 and began to lay groundwork for turning this vision into reality. Gathering a small core of dedicated followers, Forest City Community Church grew in size, and reached out to the people of London. Through radio ads, postcards, and the eager invitations of those already attending, FCCC expanded into the auditorium of Saunders Secondary School.

As the congregation grew, so did the services and opportunities for people to find a place to belong and contribute to the life and vision of the church. Programs for children, high school students, singles, young adults, Bible study groups, and recovery ministries have blossomed.

Forest City Community Church is essentially an interdenominational church. That is, its makeup is from, and for, people with diverse backgrounds. Currently there are people with Catholic backgrounds, various Protestant and evangelical backgrounds as well as little or no church background.

FCCC has two primary affiliations. One, it is affiliated with a Christian Protestant denomination called the Christian Reformed Church in North America. Secondly, FCCC is affiliated with the Willow Creek Association, a growing movement of churches around the world that use a similar approach in reaching people with the message and love of Christ.

The FCCC ministries go well beyond the boundaries of the city.

Bolivia is the poorest country in South America. The country FCCC has made a commitment to help with leadership development, humanitarian aid and Christian teaching. FCCC has ongoing ministry investment in Bolivia in three major areas.

The Global Leadership Summit
In 2007, the team at FCCC realized that leadership development was almost non-existent for Bolivian pastors and leaders. They decided to make the Global Leadership Summit possible so that pastors and leaders could attend at a nominal cost and benefit from inspiration and practical tools to impact their communities. In 2009 FCCC sponsored the first Global Leadership Summit in Cochabamba. In 2012 there were six Global Leadership Summits held around the country supported by FCCC, that trained over 1500 leaders.

Habitat for Humanity
Since 2010 FCCC have been partnering with Habitat for Humanity to build new houses for families in desperate need of shelter and the comfort of a home. Each spring FCCC hosts the Forest City Charity Golf Classic to raise funds and each fall FCCC sends a group of volunteers to Bolivia to partner with the Habitat for Humanity staff to build new homes. In the last three years, six homes have been built.

Compassion International
Caring for the children of Bolivia is also at the heartbeat of FCCC's outreach to Bolivia. As a church we have a partnership with the ministry of Compassion International in the city of Cochabamba. Over 100 children are supported by FCCC families in that region.
